Consider using a warm color to forgive marks that may appear on your wall from a well used area. Pale paint colors
will make an area brighter, but, keep in mind that the traffic through these spaces can leave marks along the walls.
By using a gloss finish paint rather than a matte finish paint, clean-up will be much easier. If wallpaper is your
preference, make the pattern simple and not too busy to takeover the space. Pick-up a color from an adjoining room and
carry it through the space. Changing out the floor will differentiate the spaces.
Ceramic tile or hardwood floors are great choices for high traffic areas. Quality area rugs will help to protect the
floor from dirt and debris tracked in and they will add color. For safety, don’t forget the rubber pad to secure your
area rugs.
Furnishing these spaces is easy; a console table with an interesting mirror works well. It serves as a spot for the
family to drop keys, notes etc...
Last, but, not least, these areas should be well lit, though, not to the extreme that there is harsh bright light.
Entering your home should be relaxing and inviting!
